This is a wonderfully relaxed family home, surrounded by a lush, established garden and beautiful old trees. Its spacious, comfortable and uncomplicated- a house made for everyday family life.
The real heart of this home is undoubtedly the stoep. It is quite spectacular- exceptionally long, deep and completely covered, made for lazing around on summer evenings or watching the spectacular sunsets to the west in winter once the trees have lost their leaves.
You can tell it was built with great thought, with a beautiful reed ceiling and exposed timber beams, a built-in braai and pizza oven, and enough space for a long table, sofas and everything in between. The living areas open straight onto it and from there into the garden. It really is where I imagine most of life in this house happens.
Inside, the lounge and dining room make up one large, relaxed living space, with a galley kitchen alongside.
The main bedroom is beautifully spacious, with its own bathroom and doors opening towards the garden. A separate office sits directly alongside it- convenient, but still a proper room of its own.
There is also a completely private flatlet, nicely removed from the main living spaces- perfect for guests, extended family or even as an option for a permanent rental.
The garden is big, lush and wonderfully established, with enormous old trees creating beautiful pockets of shade and wide stretches of lawn with more than enough space for children and dogs. A borehole is a huge asset and takes much of the worry out of keeping a garden of this size looking this good, especially with El Nio looming over all of us.
The practical things are taken care of too, with a double garage, separate laundry, good storage, a 4.6kW inverter and two 7kWh lithium-ion batteries.
